The Collective return and Barry bows out

Last year's runners up The Collective returned to The X Factor stage tonight performing their latest single Another Life.

Coming third in last year’s series, The Collective said about their return to the stage, “It's been incredible coming back to the stage. We're so proud of where we came from and so much fun to be back .”

However it was time to farewell Barry Southgate who was in the bottom two alongside Swedish brothers JTR.

After performing Katy Perry’s California Gurls, the judges chose to send him home.

Barry’s mentor, Dannii Minogue said, “The experience has been great for Barry and I'm so glad everyone has had a chance to see him in action.”

On leaving the show, Barry said, “It's been an amazing experience on this show. Thank you for the opportunity Australia, it's taught me so much. This won't be the end of me.”

Next, the remaining 9 finalists will perform some of the biggest party tracks for “Latest and Greatest”.

This show is a farce ..all the screaming kids along with their parents screaming too you can hardly hear what is going on..Jai will never ever be achild super star he will never be a Michael Jackson or a Justin Bieber or Justin Timberlake so why are we keeping this young man on it is truley unfair for all the contestants that have half a chance of succeding i agree with the Ian Roan is making this contest all about HIS group Jai is missing a heap of school and building up his hopes like this is not good because we all know that his audition was good but not good enough to get him here he did no justice to the MJ number in all accounts vocal or dance ...we are all sukkie nana's ..let him go

Both aren't great, but I have to admit - though I don't like Barry much, because he seems fake and insincere to me - his last performance was actually convincing, though goony goo goo desperate at the end!!! But yeh, both are equally not ready for the Big Time!

I agree with some of comments that I have read. I do not think Barry should be gone and I do not think either Barry or JTR should have been in the bottom two. I do not wish to be unkind but I agree that Joelle should be gone, actually should have gone two weeks ago.

What a load of belomy. Barry destroyed him self with that stupid cap on his head and his complete image changed from Barry to a second rate copy of Guy Sebastion. Now lets get real,Everyone knows who is going to romp in as the winner (even though of Asian appearance) so does it really matter just who leaves each week. I personally would send Jai home. Finally if you have a comment then show your face instead of hiding your face

The X Factor seems to be less a talent show and more a "Let's-watch-Ronan Keating-try-to-win Show". For each of the last two weeks he has got rid of the opposition to "his boys". Kat should not have gone instead of Joelle, and Barry should not have gone instead of JTR although JTR shouldn't have been in the bottom two, Joelle should have been. The final elimination is NOT a sing-off, as has been made quite plain over the last two weeks, so why not call it what it really is, a chance to 'milk' their talent one more time before 'stickin' it to 'em'. Those young Australians who do phone in are not stupid - in spite of those screaming children in the audience - and most of them know a talented singer when they hear one, so who is making the decisions?
