Larry Emdur

Larry Emdur joins Kylie Gillies as co-host of The Morning Show on Channel Seven.

Larry has been part of the Australian media for over two decades beginning his career as a copyboy at the Sydney Morning Herald. He then started his television career in 1983 at age 18 becoming Australia’s youngest national newsreader presenting the overnight news for Channel Seven.

Since then Larry has worked on more than twenty programs across all television networks including the Midday Show, Good Morning Australia, Tonight Live, Hey Hey It's Saturday, It Takes Two, Sunrise and Weekend Sunrise.

But perhaps what Larry is best known as is a game show host. He fronted The Price Is Right for more than seven years on Channel Nine and Wheel of Fortune on Channel Seven.

As well as his passion for television Larry is also interested in film and has completed a screen writers’ course in LA. He has written his first feature film script which is based on the wacky world of game shows.

Larry also loves surfing, motorbike riding. He lives in Sydney with his wife Sylvie and two children Jye and Tia.

60 Seconds With Larry...

What is your idea of happiness?

If my wife Sylvie is happy then I’m happy.

Who do you most admire?

Anyone who has survived in TV for a long time has enjoyed success and hasn't been "affected" by the business.

What is your greatest extravagance?

My garage full of toys, surfboards, skateboards, motorbike and lots of fun stuff that's not allowed in the house.

What is your biggest regret?

Not getting a house with a bigger garage so I can have more toys.

What is your greatest achievement?

Still being on TV after Family Double Dare, Cash Bonanza, Surprise Wedding and Celebrity Dog School.

What is your most treasured possession?

An old brass steering wheel from Dad's first boat. It was an old stinker and the wheel was the most valuable part of it.

What do you appreciate the most about your friends?

The fact that they have remained my friends after some of the rubbish I’ve done on TV.

What is your favourite food and drink?

Pizza (sad but true) and any cheap red wine.

Do you have any nicknames? How did you get them?

Kylie calls me Lazlo, I guess that's because I'm Laz and she thinks I’m low.

Who was your first celebrity crush?

Raquel Welch. I had the poster in my bedroom of her coming out of the surf wearing an ill-fitting wetsuit.

Finish this sentence. I love The Morning Show because...

...it's the most fun a TV host can have sitting down.
