Julia, the latest Muppet to arrive on Sesame Street, is not like the other Muppets. She's the first autistic Muppet character to make her debut on Sesame Street, and was created to promote understanding and inclusion of children with autism.

"With autism, there's such a range and there's so many different ways that autism affects people, and there's no way we could possibly show everything... so we had to pick one lane and go in it," says show writer Christine Ferraro.

"Through Julia, we aim to show that all kids are amazing, and that all kids can be friends," tweeted the show's official account.
