Netflix' latest episode of Riverdale, entitled When a Stranger Calls, saw Veronica Lodge’s (played by Camila Mendes) ex-boyfriend Nick St.Clair (Graham Phillips) arrive in town with his family.
However, Nick may soon be hopping on a flight back to New York after he attempted to date-rape Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) at a party.
In a very distressing moment, Nick drugged Cheryl’s champagne before whisking her off to his hotel room. Through mid-singing, The Pussycats noticed something was up, and chased after them arriving in the room just in time to stop Nick from sexually abusing the lead cheerleader.
"I'll be honest, I cried. I cried and I called my mum," Petsch told ET. "I didn’t tell her what happened, obviously, but I was like, 'This is a really heavy episode.'"
"This is a huge topic, especially right now with what's going on in the world. And it's so close to home and it's so important to portray it properly. I felt a huge responsibility to make it real, but then also there was a part of me where my heart was breaking. So it was a very interesting moment for me to get that [script] and there was no warning coming."
