'Walk4BrainCancer' Ambassador Johnny Ruffo Shares His Brain Cancer Journey

Last month, Johnny Ruffo confirmed that he had been diagnosed with brain cancer and now, the star has joined the Walk 4 Brain Cancer fundraiser in order to help create awareness and raise money for the important charity.

The former Home And Away actor, who recently had a mass removed from his head after suffering a sudden migraine, revealed his struggle on the Walk 4 Brain Cancer Facebook page, as well as promoting a fundraiser via Instagram.

"Everyone gets a headache, but the pain became more severe", Ruffo explains. "I was laying on the couch, cradling myself in the fetal position. All my words were mixed up".

Ruffo reveals how he felt leading up to his surgery. "I kept vomiting and was put on anti-nausea medication. Eventually I fell asleep, and slipped into a coma. No one could wake me up."

The 29-year-old star was rushed to hospital for an MRI scan, uncovering a seven-centimetre tumour in his right frontal lobe. "A decision was quickly made and all other operations were canceled that day", Ruffo continued. "After nine hours, I woke up and had no idea where I was. When I was given the news, I had my mum, girlfriend and her mother with me - they've been extremely supportive."

Ruffo first appeared on 'The X Factor' in 2011, coming in third. He soon went on to win the 12th season of 'Dancing with the Stars' in 2012. Recently, Ruffo starred as Chris Harrington on 'Home and Away' from 2013-2016.
