A man has died after he was found with significant injuries and burns to his body at a popular sports field on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called following reports a 29-year-old man’s body had been found in Glennon Park on Pappas Way in Nerang about 6.30am on Tuesday.

The man was later identified as a 29-year-old. It is understood the man had serious injuries, including burns, when he was found.

A crime scene was initially established.

However, police now believe the death is not suspicious.

Police are awaiting the results of a post mortem to determine the man’s cause of death.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police searched the grounds as part of their investigation and set up cordons at all entrances to the football field, including at the Nerang Eagles clubhouse.

Nerang Bulls Rugby Union has cancelled its night-time junior and senior training at the park on Tuesday.

School Sport South Coast has relocated its 10-12 years boys and girls football trials to The Southport School.
