Friends Ali and Samuel made a fatal flaw when whipping up a Thai-inspired meal in Wonderland, their Hobart instant restaurant that had an Alice In Wonderland theme because, said Samuel, "It is quirky and off-beat like our relationship." Newly single Ali explained that Samuel - who affectionately calls her Mama due to her maternal nature - is a mate of her ex-husband's and just a friend. The Tasmanians' unwitting error was made when public servant Samuel, 34, who believed the flavours of a curry paste need at least two days to infuse, used paste from a jar for his Entree of Thai Beef Curry Strips with Mai Tai Granita, despite teacher Ali's concerns. Big mistake. "That, to me, is cheating," was judge Pete Evans' verdict. After their stove's gas ran out and the presentation of their Squid Hood Stuffed with Pork wasn't up to scratch Ali, 28, was reduced to tears. Things looked up when judge Manu Feildel said the squid melted in his mouth but their spirits dropped after their Thai-Rifle Dessert failed. There was just as much action out of the kitchen. South Australian Joanna, the cooking partner of "Cupcake" Jenna, said she thought the former Beauty Queens from WA brought a "negative and fake dynamic" to the group. Joanna believed they were being overly critical in an attempt to have the hosts take their spot at the bottom of the leaderboard. The other teams awarded Ali and Samuel a 6 or 7 but voice teacher Lisa, 52, and her dance teacher daughter Candice, 28, gave them just 3, bringing their total score to 63.In the previous episode, a near perfect Seafood Casserole entree, overcooked Pork main and undercooked Pumpkin Pie dessert gave Lisa and Candice a total of 57 at their Perth instant restaurant D'Lish. The mother and child left their competitors speechless when they put on a flamenco show and, the following night, sang for their supper at Wonderland. But it was Cupcake who won the audience award for original score by coining a new word. "I'm getting all inspirated," she said excitedly about the meal.Next, Bondi personal trainers Luke and Scott cook up a healthy storm. Let's get inspirated!Find out when My KItchen Rules is on next on our TV Guide.
