How has life changed since you were crowed a winner on My Kitchen Rules in 2012?
It hasn't really changed because I still work with my flower shop, but apart from that I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of new people an appear as guest cook at different places. So it changes you in the sense that you have more of those type of opportunities. But as far as my daily grind goes it's still pretty much the same!
Has there been a highlight of everything that has happened, since your big win?
Defiantly going to Telethon in Melbourne, Jen and I had the opportunity to go to the children's hospital and we got to meet a lot of really beautiful children who were really sick. It was really humbling and I didn't think I would be strong enough to do that but I really surprised myself and sort of took my emotions out of it. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, to put a smile on the face of a child. I feel really grateful to have done that.
You had so many great moments on the show but which one/s stood out to you the most?
Obviously winning was the best moment of the whole entire show because we worked so hard to get to that point. The other highlight for us was the Queensland trip. The people in Queensland were beautiful and just driving around in our campervan, that was awesome. We cooked outside in 40 degree heat and it just goes to show you can really do anything. We had so much fun.
Do you have any funny behind-the-scenes stories?
Not really, but just getting to know all the contestants was really fun and I have gained some really great friends out of it.
Who do you still keep in touch with from your series?
I keep in touch with Jen, Justine from Perth, Mick, David and Helen. Helen was almost like the big sister when we were getting down to the fine wire. She was really like a type of spiritual guide and she is just a really lovely, warm, beautiful person.
Do you have friends and family asking you to cook for them a lot?
A little bit! I think they come over and expect great things but be honest eating well is just normal for us. I mean we don't have five course meals every night but we do eat very healthy and we do eat very well like really good quality fish and meat. You I guess some people just might not do that. For us it's just a general part of our household, we just live that way. We don't really buy too much pre packed food and it's all just fresh really good quality ingredients.
Who would you most like to cook for and why?
I would probably say Pete and Manu again! I would like to do our instant restaurant because when we first did that it was nerve racking with all the other contestants. Now I would just like to do it again, just be so relaxed, have fun with it and not be so stressed.
Tell us what you're working on next...
At the moment I have my own Facebook page which I do a lot of recipes and updates for people to look at and keep in touch. But my partner Anthony and I have also just launched a new map app - Shortcuts and Emergency, which allows you to draw your own shortcut or route, it also has a great safety feature for families which allows you to locate your kids or loved ones via GPS if they are lost. The app has been over six months in the making, quite busy and stressful but we are very proud of it and are looking forward to getting it out on the market.
Where do you hope to be in five years?
I just hope that our app business grows and that one thing leads to another. It's kind of where we are headed, we are going more into technology. I'd like to have and e-book with some recipes, perhaps do something with food and flowers and establish a little business for myself.
What advice could you give fans of the show who may be considering giving it a shot in the future?Don't hesitate just do it! You never know what opportunities it could bring, so if you have the confidence to do it, absolutely do it. My other piece of advice would be just be yourself, don't worry about saying this or saying that. Just be yourself and if you are a likeable person people will defiantly like you. Just don't get caught up in drama!
