Kyle Sandilands hits back after Steve Price slams his 'toxic' show: 'An expert in failure'

Kyle Sandilands has hit back at Steve Price after The Project panellist slammed the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday night following the KIIS FM show's debut in Melbourne.

The Sydney-based radio show, which is also hosted by Jackie 'O' Henderson, featured lots of X-rated references, including Kyle introducing himself to new listeners as a "coke-sniffing a**hole" and "ex-f**k boy", while Jackie confirmed to no one asking that she was "STI free".

More of the crew were introduced to Melbourne fans, with newsreader Brooklyn Ross admitting he once had crabs, and show director Bruno Bouchet introducing himself by saying "despite being straight, I love getting pegged".

Kyle responds to Steve's comments

Steve didn't hold back on The Project, saying of Kyle, "That garbage you put to air this morning, sexualised rubbish. Toxic, and nobody should listen to it."

"And you will be a massive failure in Melbourne," he added.

He went on to say that the last time he made comments about Kyle, referring to him as a "grubby bafoon", he received a "threatening message" from the radio host, who he said has the "intellect of a cumquat", before taunting Kyle to "do it again".

Kyle responded to Steve's comments on Tuesday morning, saying, "Does he mean what he says, or is he just full of s***?"

"That's why I won't go on these on these old grandma's podcasts. He's paid to be on The Project, to be opinionated. So, he amps it," Kyle added.

The shock jock continued, taking aim at Steve's radio career, saying, "By the way, [Price] is someone that knows about failure. Because I think the last breakfast show he did in Melbourne pulled a 2.6. 2.6, bro."

"You meet more people at the servo filling up fuel. So, he is the expert on failure."

Melbourne listeners weigh in on Kyle and Jackie O

Melbourne listeners were divided on the show, with one Instagram user writing, "YESSSSSSSSS! 👑👑 The King & Queen have arrived!!!!!! WOO HOOOOO!"

"Best 6am show opener ever!!!" another said.

"Welcome to Melbourne, love it!" a third fan said.

While another said, "Well, is your content really suitable for school drop off, no kid has to be exposed to so much sexual content!"

"Turn over at 7:45 with kids in the car and Kyle was taking about Jackie's sex life... No thanks," someone else said, adding they would be switching to Nova FM's Jase and Lauren, who used to host the Melbourne breakfast show on KIIS FM.
