Farmer Wants A Wife fans have slammed what they believe to be a major change to the show. Taking to Reddit, one angry longtime fan wrote, "Farming people (or the ones I've met) are all genuine people, and this season is absolutely horrendous.

"All the smooching feels forced, all the Botox-injected blonde bimbos get pitted against each other to create drama, the families are horrible to each other. I used to like this show, now it's just turned into another Bachelor."

While we might not all agree on the "Botox-injected blonde bimbos" sentiment, it seems as though many agreed that the show had changed, and not for the better.

"Yes, they've made it a competition, not a dating show," another said

"Yeah I think I might be done now," a third wrote. "I started with last year's season, then went back and watched about four seasons before that, then hopped to this season and last year's was by far the best. This year's just doesn’t have the same feel to it. I don’t think any reality TV survives for long because people learn to do what they think the audience wants and it gets weird."

"I agree. All the high fashion, even on farm stays, and the contestants doing fake tans and producers telling the women how to do their hair, or make their make up [to] look 'soft n feminine', so you'll be liked... but if you want to announce a text message scandal, the women wear their hair strictly tied back in a tiny bun, harsh make up with bright red lipstick," someone else added.

"[Reality shows] are all manipulated by the producers and edited to tell a storyline that never even happened," one user claimed, alleging, "On MAFS they get them drunk, make them sit up late at night until they repeat the lines producers are feeding them or they don't get to go to bed. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if they did it on the others."

"I've watched small snippets over the years and always thought out of all the reality shows out there it was the most genuine and wholesome," another said. "But this season it’s gotten out of hand to the point I’ve just stopped watching."

"I'm sick of fake-looking dates set up by the show, with fairy lights and blankets, and wooden conversations," yet another angrily added.

Farmer Bert previously told us that the dates are all "based off" the farmer's ideas, but the producers add their own touch.

"I guess there's probably some bits that are added into it that maybe were suggested. But, you know, they're all our ideas of a date, like sitting at the dam and just having a bit of a picnic or whatever, or just somewhere nice on the property – that is probably something that we would do.

"And that's our idea, and maybe we wouldn't have as many candles as what you see. I don't own a single candle," he says with a smile, as Farmer Dustin adds that there are also way more "cushions" than what he would set up.

Speaking about the setup, Bert says, "They definitely gave me the opportunity to set them up. And then when I put them out there, then they just went and fixed it all."

Farmer Tom also told us that the shooting days are very long, and that definitely affects how everyone behaves.

"That's probably the big thing that not many people know," Tom tells us. "Obviously, we start in the morning and then on the dinners where you send someone home, we were still filming at 3/4am. It's very big days and all the events – like sometimes it was 5am when we were getting back to the hotel rooms."

He jokingly adds, "[Viewers] are like, 'Oh, you looked really sad,' but you're like, 'Oh my eyes were just bloodshot because I was tired.'"

"Or if we look a bit uninterested – and it's bad because sometimes you're like, 'Oh I look very uninterested in that,' then you think back and you're like, 'No that was about 4:30 in the morning!'"
