JESSICA MAUBOY: The message really is to be your unique self. It's the message is no matter how typical your brain tells you you're not good enough, or your subconscious tells you you're not great enough, or you're not worth it, or you've got to compare yourself.

So the great deeper message of this song is free yourself from that. Free yourself from all the shit that's on your back, that is actually not yours to carry. Don't carry someone else's burdens, and work yours out. Take the time to figure out who you are and what you need to make you feel safe in your space and go to those places. Go to those places that make you feel safe.

"Right Here Right Now" is an anthem for that. And I wanted to explore that. I know so many people that have stories that they still walk in this world and down the street feeling like they're not meant to be here, that they're aliens, or that they're-- you know, you are made to feel that way sometimes, and it's not a good feeling.

So I wanted to create a safe space with this song, that you could gradually go from literally snotty, sobbing crying to empowering, to going, you know what, I'm going to put my shoes on, I'm going to walk outside my door, and I'm going to face the world, and face it with confetti bombs going off, like confetti cannons just going, [? [POPPING SOUND], ?] and it's just colorful.

It's like it's a better and it's a brighter day, and I'm going to get my day. I'm going to be strong again and confident.
