Tamara is a country girl, through and through. Brought up in a small town, the youngest child of a sheep farming family, she spent her youth in open fields with fresh air. She loves the land. She loves her family. But she could see how hard the life was, what it had done to her mother, a once vibrant woman systematically worn down by hard work and isolation, and so Tamara craved more for her future.
Along came a man called Nelson and he worshipped her. Having run away with him, Tamara soon realised what a terrible mistake she had made… his belief that he had ownership over her, coupled with his bad temper led Tamara to fear for her life…and she managed to alert her brother to her predicament, begging him to come and get her, to save her. And he did.
What transpired will haunt Tamara for the rest of her life… a terrible confrontation that left her sibling badly beaten. He then drove off into the dark of night and had a terrible accident, which claimed his life. Tamara knows that the beating her partner gave him contributed to the accident and his death. She knows it’s all her fault.
Now she’s in hiding, fearing for her life, given that her brother’s killer is on the hunt for her, the only witness to his crime. Tamara found a kidnapped Casey stranded in the desert and helps him to escape from Kyle. But he returns to capture them, so Tamara throws a petrol can and causes an explosion to escape. Weeks later, she turns up in Summer Bay for Casey's court case and gives evidence.
Sasha becomes jealous of Tamara, as she decides to stay in the Bay and begins working with Casey at Angelo’s. After Tamara kisses Casey and tells him she wants to be with him, Casey recommends she goes home to tell her parents of the tragedy that occurred with her brother. Nelson then arrives in Summer Bay after she returns, to try and force Tamara back to the country.
This is when Kyle re-enters Tamara's life. They spend more time
together, he tries to help her and even confesses that he likes Tamara. Casey becomes suspicious, and Tamara gets annoyed that Casey is spending so much time working at the gym. When Tamara and Ricky are kidnapped, Tamara becomes so weak that she gets amnesia. She doesn't remember Casey and clings on to Kyle for stability. She chooses Kyle over Casey and their relationship begins, albeit a difficult situation.
Tamara begins to remember bits and pieces from what had happened and realises that it was Casey who she loved. When Casey becomes seriously injured in the car accident, it is Tamara who is back right by his side. They grow back a strong connection and bond, and although Tamara feels bad for Kyle, it is Casey who she wants to be with.

There's nothing like a good 'love triangle' to heighten the drama in the Bay. Ruby fought to win Romeo's love from Indi and Ricky had to compete with Charlie's ghost.
"Things got a little awkward" said Kelly Paterniti when the Braxton brothers fought for Tamara's love.
