Much loved, award-winning actress Georgie Parker joins the cast of Home and Away in 2010 as ‘Roo’ (Ruth) Stewart.
Georgie wanted to be a ballet dancer but she suffered from scoliosis and her back could not handle the strains of dancing professionally. She became a household name through her 1989 role as nurse Lucy Gardiner in A Country Practice and went on to star in Acropolis Now and Fire. In 1998 Georgie starred as Terri Sullivan in medical drama All Saints, cementing her status as an Australian television favorite. Georgie is a presenter on Play School with Jay Laga'aia who plays Elijah.
Georgie’s theatre credits include the musical theatre production The Man from Snowy River: Arena Spectacular, Scenes from a Separation, Chapter Two and David Williamson’s Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica.
For her television roles, Georgie has won seven Logie awards, including two Gold Logies. Georgie’s debut on Home and Away marks her return to series television.
Roo, the daughter of iconic Summer Bay resident Alf Stewart (Ray Meagher) returns to town after years of living abroad. The role was originally portrayed by Justine Clarke and marks Georgie’s permanent return to series television.
"I’m thrilled to be back at Channel Seven and to be part of Home and Away," Georgie said
"Working with Ray is a joy. We are having a fantastic time together. The whole cast and crew has been wonderful."
Away from the screen, Georgie enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter Holly. It's her now 10-year-old's interest in Home and Away that has helped bring Georgie back.
"My daughter had switched on to a couple of episodes and had developed a crush on Hugo, played by the lovely Bernard Curry," Georgie says.
