When student David isn’t reciting one of his favourite Monty Python sketches, you can find the Scout Master practising his knot work - he’s amassed more than 20 different types of knots in his repertoire.
“I’ve been involved with the Scouting Association for 13 years, which is nothing to sneeze at. I’m currently involved with the Rovers, which is the
18-26 year old version of Scouts.”
Currently studying a double degree in Computer Science and Electronic
Engineering, David said he hoped being part of Beauty and the Geek Australia would “broaden his horizons”.
“I want to make new friends and make myself a better person overall. I strive to do well in all that I attempt and will give 100 percent every time. I will not back down from a challenge, even if I’m not skilled in that area,” he says.
One of these areas, he admits, is his previous romantic track record with the ladies.
“I tend to be very shy around females. I do have a fairly poor relationship history. I’ve had occasional online flings that usually don’t work out as planned.”
In reality, David hasn’t actually met his online flings.
Instead, David channels his energies into online poker tournaments and performances with amateur drama group Whitehorse Showtime, of which he has been an active member for the last six years.
He is also a bona fide maths whiz, winning several academic awards for his
mathematical abilities. “My favourite academic subjects are mathematics, physics and IT. I enjoy problem solving and the intellectual challenge it gives me.”
