Thousands of Voters Turn Out for Hong Kong Opposition Primaries

More than 610,000 Hong Kong residents cast ballots in an opposition primary on July 11 and 12, ahead of September’s Legislative Council elections.

The South China Morning Post reported that “long queues” formed across the city on Saturday and Sunday.

Organizers told the SCMP that a total of 592,211 votes were cast via a mobile app and around 21,000 by paper ballot, representing almost 14 percent of registered voters.
