Portland Police Clear Protesters After Riot Declared at East Precinct

Police in Portland declared a protest on August 5 at the East Precinct in the city unlawful after what they said was “criminal behavior” there.

This footage, recorded by Laura Jedeed, shows protesters being told to move east along Stark Street, as police rush after them.

August 5-6 was the 70th night of anti-racism protest in Portland. Police said protesters at the East Precinct started a fire outside the building, caused “significant damage” to its doors, and tore off boards protecting glass windows. Rocks were thrown at officers, police said, and “a truck associated with the group attempted to run over several officers.” Credit: Laura Jedeed via Storyful
