Galveston Bay Flooded as Tropical Storm Beta Brings High Tide and Storm Surge

Coastal roadway flooding was reported across Galveston County, Texas, as Tropical Storm Beta edged closer to making landfall on September 21, according to local media reports.

Video showed submerged piers and flooded gardens in Galveston Bay, as the National Weather Service reported that the storm would bring flooding to the area due to rising high tides and a storm surge.

Further damage was caused in the area as a section of a fishing pier was discovered to have “come loose in the rough surf and tore away Sunday evening,” Galveston Island Beach Patrol Chief Peter Davis told the Galveston County Daily News.
