Bear Relaxes in Hammock as It Recovers From Severe Wildfire Burns

A young black bear whose feet were “badly burned” in the East Canyon Fire in Montezuma County, Colorado, in June is expected to make a full recovery.

The bear was rescued by firefighters on June 16. Firefighters used a tranquilizer dart to sedate it and transferred it to the Frisco Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Wildlife officials said the bear’s bandages have been removed and “is continuing his healing process” at the rehab facility.
