KEEDRON BRYANT: (SINGING) I just want to live. God protect me.

My name is Keedron Bryant. I'm 12 years old. I'm from Jacksonville, Florida, and I'm a recording artist. Oh! Wait, wait, wait. I'm not 12 years old. I'm 13 years old. My birthday was just two days ago, and I keep thinking I'm 12 years old because every interview, I say 12 years old.

- Happy 13th birthday.

KEEDRON BRYANT: Before I recorded the song, we watched the George Floyd death. My mom gave me the lyrics of the song and I meditated over the song and I prayed over the song. After that, I recorded the song and I said, I'm ready.

The message was that Black people can live on earth, and we could enjoy life without having fear in our minds that something is going to happen to us. So I just really just want to get the message out there that Black people belong here too and that we can enjoy life.

(SINGING) I'm a young Black man.

When I see on the news, I did not know that it was going to go viral. Because before I recorded, I was like, OK, this is going to go viral. I was thinking about what happened to Mr. George Floyd and Mr. Ahmaud Arbery, Miss Breonna Taylor, so it was just the right time because of what's going on. So when the video went viral, this man put a beat on it named Dem Jointz.

(SINGING) I'm a young Black man. Doing all that I can.

And he has got a lot of connections with Warner, so Warner reached out to me and they wanted to sign me as a recording artist to their label. So I was like, OK, I'm going to be a recording artist. So I'm in LA right now, and I'm working on the album, and I'm shooting the music video. So Garrett is not like a-- it's mainly just me in the music video. So it's not a lot of people.

Alexa, play "I Just Want to Live" by Keedron Bryant.

We chose to donate 100% of the proceeds to the NAACP because I just really want to invest in a Black-owned organization. I would say to young Black boys and girls that even though you may feel a lot of pain in your whole family with what's going on towards black people, I would just say don't let that get you down because God is going to always be right there. I'm just really grateful and I'm thankful for what God has given me in my life right now. And I just really hope that this can change and we could be equal.
