Michelle Rodriguez on the importance of stunt women in Hollywood

In “Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story,” Michelle Rodriguez narrates the evolution of stunt women in an industry dominated by men. “I think they [women] need to be celebrated a little bit,” she tells Yahoo Entertainment. “I don’t think they get enough love for risking their lives to entertain us.” Rodriguez, who stars in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, has done a few of her own stunts, but credits the incredible women who put their lives on the line to make the action sequences so realistic. The actress feels it’s important to tell the stories of stunt women because their voices are missing in this industry. “We’re missing out on so much discovery,” she says. Part of the challenge, Rodriguez explains, is that most of the choreography and stories are designed by men for men. She's hopeful things will change and is excited for a more inclusive Hollywood. “These stunt doubles, so many have given up their lives … I think that deserves praise.” "Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story" is available on-demand starting Sept. 22.
