Qantas boeing 747 leaves Sydney on farewell flight

A Qantas Boeing 747 flew over Sydney for the final time on July 13 ahead of the plane’s retirement from the airline fleet. Qantas announced on July 6 it would operate three farewell flights for the aircraft: over Sydney on July 13, Brisbane on July 15, and finally Canberra on July 17. The first Qantas Boeing 747 entered service in 1971. Fleet Captain Owen Weaver said: “The 747 has been a magnificent aircraft and it’s fitting that we celebrate the end of five decades of history-making moments for the national carrier and aviation in Australia.” Credit: Timbowrey26 via Storyful
