Style evolution: Mariah Carey’s most legendary looks

Mariah Carey has broken music records and made history as one of the hottest chart-topping artists on the planet. With a career that spans nearly three decades, Carey (aka Mimi) is known not only for her music, but also for her fashion. In the ’90s her style consisted of figure-hugging dresses — and her hair was all about curls. At the 1997 MTV VMAs, the elusive chanteuse showed off her body in a revealing Calvin Klein two-piece. That outfit went down in history and Carey began her butterfly metamorphosis phase. Two years later she continued her skin-baring style tour with a parade of sexy minis. By the early 2000s Mimi was synonymous with the words “sexy,” “diva” and “fashionista.” In 2003 she stepped onto the red carpet in a bra top and shorts! Yes, this superstar was the epitome of confidence. As her acting career began to take off with movies like “Precious,” Carey upped her style, choosing more glamorous gowns. In 2010 she attended the SAG Awards in a stunning red one-shouldered dress. Then came the accessories. In 2013 Carey perfectly accessorized her outfit with a studded leather sling. The following year she had a passion for fingerless gloves, rocking a pair at the SAG Awards. Mimi never deviated from those form-fitting dresses, though. In 2016 she hit the red carpet in a Mark Zunino gown that hugged her curves in all the right places. At the 2018 Golden Globes, the songstress looked like Hollywood royalty in a body-hugging vintage Dolce & Gabbana dress. At this year’s Billboard Music Awards, Carey chose a figure-flattering black sequined design with a thigh-high slit. Check out the video above to follow Mariah Carey’s style evolution.
