A former royal editor says that until people have joined the Royal Family, they have no idea what life is like. Speaking on Yahoo UK's 'The Royal Box,' ITV News' former royal editor Tim Ewart says: "We talk a lot about people coming into the Royal Family being prepared for what it’s going to be like. "Kate and Meghan must expect to be the centre of attention, they have no idea, absolutely no idea what it’s really like. "When it was Diana, there were photographers, there were camera men, people weren’t using smart phones. Now every single person that a member of the Royal Family meets has a smart phone up. "Every single word that is said, doesn’t matter where the TV cameras are, doesn’t matter where the snappers, the photographers, they can be anywhere. But every single person has got their phone up or their iPad up, nothing is private anymore. "That’s something until those people have been through it, they have no understanding of what it’s like. I know very little about Meghan Markle’s early life as an actress, she was a well-known actress but she wasn’t hunted by the paparazzi. Suddenly to come into this cauldron, into this Royal Family is beyond anything that she could ever have expected and it will be very, very difficult for Harry, as it was with William with Kate, to explain just how intense that is. How every single every expression, movement, comment - bang. That’s going to be on the front page."

That's why William and Kate dated so long. He wanted to make sure she understood what she was committing to and what it was like. It's also why William told Harry his relationship with Meghan was moving too fast and needed more time. The funny thing is, Meghan as an actress was more prepared than Kate in a way as well as being much older than Kate when she first started dating William.

You have to ask why has Kate made the transition so perfectly? I believe the word is class.

Kate had some bumps in the road too, but she took the advice of those around her and worked at it and showed that she cared, and is now massively popular an well-liked. If Meghan wants the same, she's going to have to put in the same effort, and not feel like she's above doing anything but exactly what she wants, when she wants.

The only reason Harry can't explain their life to Meghan is because she totally refuses to listen. She has been determined from the beginning to change centuries of British royal life & protocols to her feminist, liberal agenda. She even changed her engagement ring because it wasn't blingy enough for her selfish, self-centered life.

Kate has done well. Others have done well. You never hear from Prince Edward and his wife and kids. Meghan could have transitioned smoothly and she started to at first - but once she got married she decided that she didn't need to listen to anyone. When Diana first got married, she did exactly what they told her - it is only in latter years that she went rogue. The royal family is a well oiled machine - just do what needs to be done. Stop spending so much money and don't be a diva. I don't know if Harry does not want to or can't control her?

Pay your dues. MM wanted all the fame, the cameras, the money, the homes, but does not want to conform to royal protocol whilst collecting the benefits. You cannot and will not have it both ways.

MM wasn't hunted by the paparazzi when she was an actress because nobody knew who she was. Paps don't waste their time on second stringers.

Suits started with 4 million viewers which steadily declined to under 1 million over eight years... Gilligan's Island had 18 million which declined to 13.5 million over three years... Harry would have been better off marrying Bob Denver!

I think Meghan thought this would be a "walk in the park" and now she's learning it isn't; and she doesn't like it. Harry should have listened to the Queen before he married Meghan. Following tradition to me is like living in a Royal Nightmare, and I must give many Accolades to the Queen and her husband and the rest who have honored their Traditions.

Thus why the royal men should choose wisely... good job William
