Shane Bourne is the consummate performer. As the host of one of Australia’s most popular television shows, he is much-loved by audiences around the country. His acting has received critical acclaim, while his comedic timing has left people laughing for a long time after the lights have dimmed.

He has an impressive list of credits to his name across television and theatre. From his dramatic role on Seven’s City Homicide playing Detective Senior Sergeant Stanley Wolfe, to host and ‘door man’ on Thank God You’re Here, Shane is held in high esteem by colleagues and devotees alike.

Born into a theatrical family, performing came naturally to Shane. At a young age he took to stand-up comedy and the dramatic arts.

For over 30 years he has been involved in the entertainment industry. As a respected actor since the early 80s. Shane enjoyed guest roles in hit Australian dramas including Cop Shop, The Sullivans, Prisoner, Blue Heelers and The Flying Doctors. Television comedy roles include the Australian version of Are You Being Served and Bingles.

Shane is a two-time recipient of the Australian Film Institute (AFI) award for Best Actor, (2003 and 2005) for his role as Bill ‘Happy’ Henderson in the ABC series MDA.

In the mid 90s, Shane worked with American comedy actor Steve Martin on his play Picasso at the Lapin Agile. In 2004, he was nominated for a Green Room Award for his role in the theatre production of Hurly Burly. Other theatre credits include The Rocky Horror Show, Medea, Comedians, Lysystrata, Some Night at Julia Creek, The Three Musketeers, What the Butler Saw, The Adman, The Moonwalkers, Urinetown The Musical, Hitchcock Blonde, Hey Hey It’s Cinderella, Sylvia and Twelfth Night.
