Controlled crying: would you?

Some previous research has shown that sleep deprivation is the single biggest issue facing new parents. It certainly stands outr as a manjor uissieu that manhy parents find difficult to adjust to.

The Murdoch Children's Research Institute and the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne have conducted a six year study into controlled crying and made some surprising findings.


Research Findings
They monitored the sleep and wellbeing of 225 Australian babies from infancy to school age
According to the researchers, 45% of Australian mothers, or 4 million, have encountered sleep problems with their children.
The Murdoch research shows babies sleeping problems were reduced by 30% within four months
Post natal depression rates was down by 40% by the time the children were two years old.
85% of parents say controlled crying helped improve their relationship with their children
The babies in this research group were aged 8 to 10 months before the controlled crying was taken on.

    So it's good for the parents. What about baby? They don't dispute the research that controlled crying can lead to negative consequences such as increased cortisol levels and neurological damage, potential SIDS risk, learned helplessness, etc. And the link to the rest of the research doesn't work, allowing this piece of reporting to remain highly biased.
