I'm going to go against the status quo here and say I actually really liked Madonna's Super Bowl half-time show (and I'm not the only one around here to say it).
Opening with an edgy 'Vogue' remix, and being carried in by a ton of male gladiators, she kicked off the spectacle. Her gold Egyptian-style throne set the scene – the queen of pop was in the house. Her 'walk-like-an-Egyptian' inspired 'Vogue' dance moves were actually rather ingenious, as the song then morphed into her hit 'Music.'
While dancers acrobated their way across the football-stadium-style bleachers on stage, Madonna nearly stacked it at the top, but saved herself at the last moment, only to be picked up, cartwheeled and back-flipped across her dancers.
Next up, a tightrope walker, with whom Madonna competed in a Cossack-style dance off: her on a glowing box, he on his tightrope. While we know he has to be fit to do his tight-rope stunts, Madonna showed no dancing mercy, proving she's probably fitter than any of us and she knows it.
Then Madonna gracefully clambered onto the shoulders of Redfoo from LMFAO as her song segued into 'Party Rock' and then 'Sexy and I Know It.' Madge also proved she's a savvy marketer and she knows it, combining her ages old audience with the hottest young things in the industry today.

Sounds like Meatloaf could learn a thing or two from her.
ReplyWonderfully fit and determined woman - looks amazing for her age - don't know about the voice as it looked as though she was pretending, but is it possible to sing decently whilst performing cartwheels. Overall, wouldn't pay to see her perform.
ReplyHave a look at Kylie's Aphrodite concert the beginning of this is it a copy or what .
ReplyAfter years of being compared to and accused of copying Madonna, it's good to see the Madonna is the one copying our Kylie this time round. The cheerleaders were out of Kylie's X tour while the greeks carrying her in were straight from last year's Aphrodite tour. And Madonna's new song? It's been done soo many times (remember Mickey? and more recently 'Girlfriend' by Avril Lavigne. I think Madonna needs to hang up her stellies. She's given up some awesome songs but nothing really worth noting in the past 10 years. She's always relying on callaborations with popular artists (take MIA and Nikki Minaj for the most recent). At least Kylie continues to have hits on her own.
