After David Beckham was booted from the sidelines of a seven-year-olds' soccer match for complaining to the referee, we're asking if it is ever appropriate for parents to speak up?

Parents should stay out of their kids sports...The kids do it for fun & because they want to...Most kids dont really appreciate parents embarassing thim in front of their peers...
ReplyI think that it depends on the situation in whichthe parents are interfering in. If for example the ref hasnt seen one kid push another for example and nothing gets done about it i beleive that its ok to have a quiet word with the ref and/or the parent of the other child however i dont think that its ok to just blow your brains out and cause a disruption for other parents and children.
Replyi don't think parents should get involved in kids sports. the kids are there for exercise, to socialise & to have a good time. i don't think parents should be putting pressure on kids to win. they are also setting a bad example to the kids if they shout abuse at the ref. kids need to learn how to deal with dissappointment. they can't do this, if mum & dad are on the sideline yelling at the ref... it just says to the kids that they are always right & they can't do anything wrong... look at all the 20yr olds that end up in the court system & think that they have done nothing wrong & they are never held accountable for their actions. where has this stemed from?
ReplyHe should know better.
ReplyI think in junior sport only if it involves bullying or kids are at risk of physical danger. Kids and parents have to learn not everything goes their way 100% of the time. Referees make mistakes they are human but the referee should be left to do their job. Parents need to pull their heads in. At my daughters tennis they have parents that are banned as they yell and shout at both their own kids, the other kids and the match umpire. What an example for the kids. Ban them I say if they can't be a positive.
