Internat dating scams - red flag to look out for
The ACCC has launched guidelines to support efforts by dating and romance website to combat scammers.
These types of scams cost Australians more than $21 million last year – with more than 2100 people reporting scammers to the ACCC.
The average loss for a victim was over $20,000.
Internet Dating Red Flags
- Looks too perfect
- Specifies older partner
- Too keen too soon
- Badly written English
- Makes excuses about meeting
- Gets your trust then asks for money

I don't think "badly written English" should be up there though. Just because someone doesn't speak English doesn't make them a scammer.
