Word of the Year: Burqini
Each year a competition is held across Australia to pick a "word of the year".
To earn a line in the dictionary the word must be part of everyday speech and must have gripped the nation.
The winning word - burwill be added to the Macquarie Dictionary online and will join past entries.. like "muffin top" and "toxic debt".
The Committee’s choice of Word of the Year for 2011:burqini
noun a swimsuit designed for Muslim women, comprising leggings and a tunic top with a hood.
