Make your own rockets and other cool stuff

Here are some great games you can play outside as the weather warms up. Be sure to wear a hat and slap on some sunscreen!

1. Balloon Volleyball

Tie a piece of string or a rope from one point to another so you have a hanging line. Now split into two teams and hit a balloon back and forth, over the line. The aim of the game is to not let the balloon touch the ground. Be careful that the balloon doesn’t pop on a branch or bindi eye!

2. Red Light Green Light

First of all choose a player to be the traffic light. They have to stand at one end of the yard and face away from the other players. When they yell “GREEN LIGHT!” the other players have to get as close as possible to them. But when the traffic light yells “RED LIGHT!” and turns around the other players must stop moving and stand as still as they can. If the traffic light spots anyone moving they must go back to the start. The aim for the players is to reach the traffic light and touch him/her while the light is green.

3. Treasure Hunt

Get a grown up to hide treats or objects in secret spots throughout your backyard, or even around your house. Then grab some goodie bags and fill them up with your discovered treats!

4. Backyard Soccer

Find some bins or something else you can make goal markers out of. Now pick a goalie and try and kick the ball past them to score a goal. Simple!

5. Backyard Golf

Get a plastic cup and tip it on its side on the ground. Grab a golf ball or a ping pong ball as well as a broom handle to use as a golf club. The idea is to hit the ball into the cup. You could even set up your very own putt putt golf course out of things around the backyard to make hitting the ball around just that little bit trickier.

6. Homemade Frisbee

This game is too easy. All you need to do is grab an old plastic plate and throw it around the backyard. You could even get artistic and decorate your Frisbee first with paint, glitter or stickers!
