Mum: Elva Turco

57, Homemaker, wife, mother of three and charity worker

Happily married to Dante (Danny) Turco for 36 years, Brisbane’s Elva Turco has fond memories of her wedding day.

“It was the traditional Italian wedding (my husband is Italian) with 140 guests,” she recalls. “My father-in-law had cancer and passed away 7 weeks later. He was so happy and proud at the wedding, it made it very special.”

Elva – who enjoys tackling challenging puzzles in her spare time - hopes her son Tony’s wedding day is not too far off, but she fears he may have left it too late, “he’s very fussy, a lot of the good ones are gone!”

For Elva, Tony’s perfect match would be “someone who is caring, honest, very grounded and has a big heart. Someone that is on the same page as him also. A good communicator.”

Elva is very close to her son and has helped him through much heartbreak, but admits this is the first time she’s played an active part in helping him find a partner

“He would never let me set him up before this,” says Elva who is looking forward to the challenge.”

So what is Elva looking for in potential daughter-in-law?

“Someone that will care, be truthful and be family orientated. Someone that will make him very happy and help him go far in life. Not a high maintenance person either. Just a true friend that will get on with everyone in his life.

“Tony has a very big heart, he thinks of everyone and he’s very protective of his family,” says Elva who believes her son will make a great husband one day.

“It would be a happy, romantic simple wedding with everyone close to him. Not too big, just a very happy atmosphere,” she says imagining her son’s big day.

Born in Brisbane, Elva is a volunteer worker for Blue Care and is also mother to 32 year-old Kaylene (who is married with three children) and 26 year-old Natalie.

“My family means the world to me,” she says. “They are my life. I want each of them to be settled and happy. Hopefully

with their own family. I want them to find the right partner and make it a lifetime commitment.”

A wife should be: Your best friend through your life.

My son’s celebrity bride would be: Maybe Jennifer Aniston? Growing up he loved her. Always had pictures of her in his room.

Meet Elva's son, 35 year old manager for an international transport company, Tony Turco.
