53, High school teacher and mother of seven
Mother of seven, high school Maths and PE teacher Karen is fiercely protective of her brood and believes her son Matt is “Prince charming who deserves to find his beautiful Cinderella.”
Karen, a former trained dancer who lives in the Sutherland Shire believes the future ‘Cinderella’ has “a great personality, can handle a big family gathering and is someone who is independent enough to allow Matthew to have his friends as well as her.”
Blonde, athletic and outgoing, Karen can talk anyone under the table and is a true believer of speaking your mind openly.
She’s tired of the “wrong women” throwing themselves at her son just for his looks. She wants Matt to find a woman who’ll give him confidence and her more grandkids!
Please Marry My Boy! is Karen's first attempt at finding a match for her son admitting she’s resisted the temptation of setting him up with one of her daughters’ friends.
“His sister did set him up once. Matthew thought the girl was very nice but not for him and by the end of the night he was talking more to the girl’s grandma than the girl,” she recalls. “He loves elderly people.”
Karen believes a combination of luck and age is responsible for Matt’s current single status.
“He is still young and hasn’t really found the right girl yet,” she says. “He still thinks life is just full of fun and games with his mates. But now as he’s coming close to his 30’s I think he’s starting to feel that it might be time to settle down.”
For Karen it’s Matt’s personality, compassion, sense of humour, positive outlook on life and love for his family that makes him the perfect catch for the right woman.
How does she see his future wedding day unfolding? “I think he would be happy with a beach wedding,” she says. “Helikes the beach life.”
A wife should be: Loyal and a great companion to her husband.
My son’s celebrity bride would be: It would have to be Natalie Portman... she’s a petite lady who Matthew thinks is drop dead gorgeous and she can dance just like my sisters.
