Erik answers your questions

We asked you to submit your questions through the official Packed to the Rafters Facebook Page.

As promised, the talented Erik Thomson has answered the best of the lot! Did your question get chosen?

What's it Like working with everyone on the show? Any funny tales to tell? Nicky Jones

We do have a lot of laughs, which is great, as often the hours are long. I can make Rebecca laugh very easily, it doesn’t take much. She’s easily amused!

Do you often get recognised by people in your everyday life? Whats the funniest run in youve had with a fan? Liam Burtenshaw

Yep, people often come and up and say hello. They get are very passionate about the show, the most asked question I get is “when are you coming back on air?”

Which is next week, by the way! And I often get asked if people can book me to check their wiring at home. The answer to that is a definite no!

Hi Erik, I have been wondering this for ages, Does your wife and other family members watch Packed to the Rafters?... And is it a weekly viewing in your house? Liz Harris

We have two little ones at home, so often my wife is in the middle of getting the kids to bed or falling in a heap after a busy day! She watches as often as she can. She loves it. Dave is her favourite character!

Hi Erik!! what was the first thing you liked about being on packed to the rafters!?! if someone asked to you to leave packed to the rafters what would you say? Christeen Douglas

Just getting the role of Dave was the first thing I liked! Then reading the scripts, meeting the cast and knowing straight off the bat we were on to something special. I’m very happy at Rafters, no one could pry me away

Are they going to explore more of Dave's family? Karla Luhrs

Yes, expect to see more of the Jennings family this season. Dave’s brother will be arriving soon. Jacob Allan plays him, and he’s a great addition to the cast.

How does Dave cope without Rachel being around? Lou James

He misses her terribly, just like I miss having Jess around the set. Keep an eye out for a Rachel appearance in the next few episodes.

Do you find it difficult commuting between Adelaide and Sydney for fhe season of the show and is your family able to travel with you? Gayleen Bradley

It’s great to get back to Adelaide on the weekends, escape Sydney and really switch off from work and everything that comes with living in a big city. We have a slice of heaven in SA.

We divide our time between both cities.

It is so easy to identify with the family man's point of view watching Dave's responses to Rafters situations. How typical of Australian men do you think your role is? Gail Van Ryswyk

Dave is a very typical Aussie bloke. A good husband, father and works hard for his family. Loves his cricket and a beer! Could work on expressing his emotions, like a lot of Aussie blokes!

PTTR such a great show whats it like working alongside rebecca and the team is it easy to play the family cause you all get along so well? Or is it sometimes hard? Shona Murray

They are very hard to work with!! No, they are all great, individual people. Everyone brings something different to the show, and within that mix, we all get along, work hard, get the job done, and have a few laughs along the way.

Hi Erik, you and Rebecca Gibney have such great chemistry on the show is that something you guys work on through your friendship outside the show? And does it resonate into jealously for your wife?

It must be difficult sometimes... Love the show an your work my highlight of the week is pttr!! Jessica Farrell

Rebecca and I slip very easily into Dave and Julie. She is an absolute delight. We’ve been doing some very heavy storylines of late, which has been fantastic for us, to work on a different level. It’s been quite hard on both of us, as Dave and Julie usually keep things light and happy. My wife loves Rebecca as much as I do!

Hey Eric ! Do you see much of Bec, Angus, Jess and Hugh when your not filming?? Can't wait for next Tuesday!! Emma Micallef

I don’t see as much of the cast outside of work, as I usually head to SA on weekends, but occasionally we all do catch up. We are a tight bunch.

Which television romance have you enjoyed more. Your current onscreen wife Rebecca Gibney or your "All Saints" costar Georgie Parker? Danny Rizk

Wow, what a question Danny. I loved working with Georgie, she’s a ball of energy. But I’d have to say Rebecca, as she may read this and hit me if I don’t choose her.

Have always loved your work!! Are there any movies for you soon? So proud of you being an Aussie actor, we need to show the world your craft. Anna Falcomata

There are always a few projects in the pipeline. It is great to work on other projects every and now then, to extend your creativity. But I’m very happy at Rafters for now.

Hi Erik just love the show and also loved your work in "The Alice" and "All Saints" what was your favourite role? Lisa Cowgill Morrison

Rafters would have to be my pick of course! All Saints was a massive show, probably the Rafters of that time. I loved being a part of it. And The Alice was very memorable – working in that damned heat, the flies…and working alongside my wife Caitlin.

How do you stay so young looking? And what's your exercise regime? Jacqueline Chugg

Why Jacqueline, this is my favourite question! I try and stay as fit as I can, between working long hours and being the Dad to two little ones. Note to self: ring personal trainer for next session.
