After a visit to the doctor, Dave and Julie have discovered the real reason behind her mood swings and erratic behaviour. It shakes the foundation of their family and what they decide to do about her diagnosis will affect each of them forever. Sammy’s mother Trish - having finally decided to leave husband Tony in the wake of his dodgy development dealings - announces she’s headed for London and offers her and Nathan the gift of a valuable painting. If they were to sell it, they would have enough money to pay off their debts, give the Rafters some much needed cash, and possibly even put down the beginnings of a deposit on a place of their own. But mindful of all the people her father has ruined, will Sammy be able to accept this too-easy escape from their troubles?

Ben is snakey from the arrival back into Melissa’s life of her semi-professional footballer ex-fiance Shannon. Ben mistakenly assumes Shannon wants Melissa back when he whisks her off to dinner – for “closure”. Fearing the worst, Ben follows them to the restaurant to spy on them. But Shannon’s startling admission over dinner reveals Ben’s assumptions are way off the mark. In spite of his immature behaviour, will Melissa find it in her heart to give Ben another chance?
