A nail gun sold at Bunnings has been recalled over fears it could start unexpectedly firing nails.

The Ryobi model Airwave 2-in-1 Brad Nailer/Stapler is being recalled by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) over the possible malfunction which sees the safety device "get stuck and allow a nail or staple to discharge through use of the trigger alone".

Victoria's Treasurer Tim Pallas is under fire for a remark this morning suggesting women working from home allowed them to better perform their "home responsibilities".

Pallas reportedly told a post-budget breakfast hosted by the Property Council of Australia that working from home wasn't necessarily unproductive, the Herald Sun reported.

“Certainly a lot of women see that it becomes liberating for them in terms of organising their home responsibilities," he said, prompting gasps from the audience.

Omar Bin Omran left his family home in Djelfa city in 1998 at the age of 17 to attend a vocational school and never returned.

His family had feared he was dead, most likely killed in a civil war between the Algerian government and Islamist rebels.

But Omran, now in his 40s, was rescued on Sunday from the house of his alleged captor and neighbour, located just 200m from his family’s home.

His alleged 61-year-old captor has been arrested.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hasn't held back responding to Opposition Leader Peter Dutton's Budget response.

Reacting to Dutton's plan for an in increase in Medicare payments for psychological sessions, Albanese suggested there was a hint of irony about the idea.

A woman with mental suffering in the Netherlands has been granted her request for assisted dying at the age of 29.

Zoraya ter Beek received the final approval last week for assisted dying after a three and a half year process under a law passed in the Netherlands in 2002.

Her case has caused controversy as assisted dying for people with psychiatric illnesses in the Netherlands remains unusual, although the numbers are increasing.

“People think that when you’re mentally ill, you can’t think straight, which is insulting,” she told the Guardian.

Aussies will be vying be the biggest lottery winner in Australia's history next week after the Powerball rolled over to $150 million.

No one has ever scooped that amount, with the previous highest jackpot of $200 million in February split between two.

No one matched all eight numbers last night in the $100 million draw, with 10 division two winners each taking home $179,059.50.

The draw next week will be the third joint-highest in lottery history.
