"You didn't think the Simpson clan was going to take the news that Ashlee had been fired from Melrose Place lightly, did you?

Ashlee's sister Jessica Simpson has taken to Twitter to attack the saucy drama, which she had previously tried to promote.

"Catching up on MP," she tweeted on her official account. "Who writes this crap? I have had bad scripts to work with, but this? Thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press."

Less than a month earlier, Jessica urged her Twitter followers to tune into Melrose Place to watch Ashlee's performance.

Ashlee was booted out of Melrose Place after shooting just 12 episodes of the revamped series. While producers claimed they had always planned to get rid of Ashlee early, the rumour mill went into overdrive speculating about the real reason for her departure.

Depending on your source, producers wanted to shake up the cast of the drama, which has struggled in the ratings since its US premiere in September; original Melrose vixen Heather Locklear, who rejoins the series in 2010, demanded that Ashlee be fired from the series; or Ashlee was let go because of her acting skills — or lack thereof."
