Lego: the reality TV show?!

"If Monopoly can be made into a movie, why can't Lego be made into a TV show?

Variety reports that reality TV producer Scott Messick has teamed up with the Lego Group to build a series around the popular toy.

Messick has plans to create several non-scripted programs — including a documentary-style show about the "Lego Masters", three men who are paid to travel the world building huge Lego constructions, as well as a game show based on a line of Lego board games released in Europe.

The theme park Legoland could also be the new home of a competition-based reality TV show in which contestants are eliminated on an episode-by-episode basis.

"Lego seemed like such a powerful brand, and I don't think they were thinking about reality TV," Messick said.

Jill Wilfert, Lego's vice-president of licensing and entertainment, added that Messick and his team have "great ideas... that capture and showcase the inherent creativity at the core [of Lego]."

In August, Lego announced that it is developing a live-action movie based on the toys."

Everybody has made their own artistic or structural wonder from LEGO at some stage in their life, being creative. It will be interesting to see the format and demography of the producer's creations. On another note, I made copies LEGO blocks in 3D when doing a multimedia TAFE course in 2002 and built a wall out of them on the computer! I think computers will play quite a role as they do in all TV production these days.

I was Victorian Lego building champion of 1969. (Made a ski jump and won a Lego train set). These days I'm an actor, so I hope to be cast in the show. I'll be able to do my own Lego stunts.
