Irate Conchord fans shunned

"Fans of the Flight of the Conchords who live outside of the US were left angered by news that they would not be permitted to stream an exclusive preview of the show's upcoming second season. The show follows the lives of New Zealand folk musicians Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie as they struggle to establish their band in New York. Rhys Darby, who plays the band's hapless manager Murray Hewitt, told stuff.co.nz that neither he, Clement or McKenzie had anything to do with the decision to broadcast the sneak-peak to an American audience only. "I saw it was only available in the States and I thought, 'OK, that's a dangerous move'. I don't know who was in charge of that." Further adding, "There were a lot of irate people, not just from New Zealand but from all over the world." The preview could be seen on the Will Ferrel-managed website Funny or Die after a partnership with network HBO was struck, and it drew more than 250,000 views in its first two weeks. The website's producers posted an explanation on the site, stating that the preview could only be seen in the US for "legal and contractual reasons". The second season of Flight of the Concords will air in the US in January, 2009."
