"Simon Baker is one of only a handful of Australians who have achieved mainstream success in America in recent years, and in an interview with Parade , The Mentalist star let slip he was contemplating American citizenship. "The morning after your election in November, I said to my wife Rebecca (Rigg), 'You know, I'm thinking about becoming an American,' and then she said that she felt the same way," said Baker. The actor, who has lived in the US since 1995 and has three children, says his work on The Mentalist has kept him too busy to act on his desire for American citizenship, yet he assured Parade that "It's going to happen!". The Mentalist , which was hailed as one of television's biggest success stories of 2008, has earned Baker a host of accolades, including the tag as one of the most handsome leading men on television. Baker was even named the star of the year by The Post's TV Week . Baker, who will turn 40 in 2009, has signed on for five years for The Mentalist in which he plays Patrick Jane, a showbiz psychic turned crime-fighter. Baker recently moved back to Sydney but the move only turned out to be temporary and he now resides in Los Angeles."
