RESPECT to the Kiwi couple - what an admirable display of showmanship. They soldiered on despite experiencing every dinner host's worst nightmare - a faulty, unpredictable oven.

I have no doubt they would have smashed that evening and my heart goes out to them in admiration for their attitude and ability to hold their heads high. I would have shed at least one tear for sure!

GIVE THE KIWIS ANOTHER SHOT!! - a win wouldn't be a tasty one without an equal playing field and i'd love the chance to see some of those infuriating smirks wiped off some of those contestants - or at the very least to see them squirm at the thought of being beaten.

All in all Kiwis - good on you both - furthermore FULL RESPECT for acknowledging the traditional owners of NZ - very respectful and appropriate - wish there were more Aussie's who shared that type of respect!

How could the oven breaking possibly be foreseen!

They bought the food specifically and in large quantities - how on earth would they just be able to make another whole 2 amazing courses out of pantry staples?

Unless you could have done better, maybe you should cut some slack! PS - do you even understand the long standing fun rivalry that exists between us and the kiwis? lol

Steven and Helen were the only courteous participants in New Zealand tonight, on MY KITCHEN RULES.  They showed kindness and enjoyment.  I give them 10/10 for niceness. The other participants gave snide comments and superscillious looks, which are unkind and uncalled for in such a competition. They only deserve 1/10.

What a lot of jerks the Aussies! Most of them were arrogant and rude the whole time they were at the Kiwi restaurant. I truly felt bad for the Kiwis. Why put yourself through this? The Aussies were obviously going to behave this way, this particular group thinks they are God's gift to earth!
Second chance? No. It wouldn't be fair.
I do look forward to Thomas and Carla busting into flames when they cook next week. Same goes for Leigh and Jennifer.

We can only hope karma comes along to even up the playing field. Can't believe that out of all those contestants, not really anyone cut some slack for their situation - it all tasted good didn't it and the room looked amazing, and WOW what a welcome! They couldn't get more resect from me - I wanted to hug them both - what courage to stand there and cop the criticism despite knowing it was a massive flop. They made the best of a shyte situation and ten thumbs up to that. I think some people can't recognise a good attitude no matter how obvious it is!

I had high hopes for the Kiwi team leading up to tonight. Obviously Manu recognised there had to be an oven problem otherwise he wouldn't have brought the subject up.  In all fairness, this is a competition and it is up to the competitors to be on their game and bring it altogether at the right time.
The pavlova ownership between the Kiwis and Aussie's has always been there but I have to agree PAVLOVA is a true Kiwi recipe.  You do need to have your oven performing well to conquer it though and in tonights case this did not happen.  I hope the Kiwis' get another crack at it because I believe they can produce better results.

Helena and Steven showed their true colours tonight I felt, kind, decent etc. What is that old saying "manners maketh man" or something like that.

The Kiwi's, your entree looked great. The lamb, not bad for a dodgy oven. The main thing you guys tried. Sorry about the pav's.... Not the only ones on this planet who has burnt meringue.

Better luck next time

Well! I felt really embarrassed when they brought out those Maoris doing a haka at the start. What the Hell they were doing there I will never know. Then everything went downhill from there. The sooner they get eliminated the better.

They messed up their sauce and their pastry cream..nothing to do with their oven. Maybe they just can`t cook. they talked the talk but didn`t have anything to back themselves up with. plain and simple

I felt very sorry for the Kiwi couple - shouldn't Manu and Pete have taken into account the faulty oven when giving their scores?
Helen/Steve and the army boys did themselves proud - genuine nice people. As for the rest of them - rude, condescending, bitchy, especially Thomas.
I hope the Kiwis get another chance to show that they're better cooks than their effort last night - who knows, they could be the Cane/Lee of 2012(remember that Cane/Lee had a similar disaster in their instant restaurant but they went on to come 2nd to Sammy/Bella).

Dont say die kiwis---soldier on----
yes you must be gutted, but dont give up. Check the oven first--- if you get another chance "cook up a storm" might shut Thomas 's verbal diarrhoea.

I felt so sorry for the New Zealand team last night.  All the teams seem to have problems with their ovens each season.  Does MKR put in new kitchen appliances for them as well as giving them all their knives and cookware?  I think they must, and I think it must all go in the day they cook because they all seem to have problems working their ovens.

The Kiwis seem like very nice polite people and not back stabbing nasties like most of the other teams. I'd also put  Helena and Steven and the soldiers in the nice and polite category.  I hope Thomas falls flat on is flat little face next week.

I really take my hat off to the Kiwis, they are the only team so far to have used real techniques in their cooking - creme pat, jus and beurre blanc! Attempting classical French recipes is no small feat, well done Steve and Meg for your bravery in taking on some of the greats of the foundation of cooking.

Go Kiwi you have brought a great spin on the show!

I too admire them.  No meltdowns or tantrums.  From what I could see, it looks like she has a Blanco oven like mine.  Mine also only cooks when it feels like it.  Biggest waste of $2000 I ever spent.  Given that the other contestants knew why the pavlova and lamb were not cooked right you would have thought they would go easy on the snide remarks.

Watched the kiwis earlier and even after explaining about the oven Jen and the other teams, cept the soldiers to their credit, bagged the desert as if the kiwis couldnt cook.
Im ashamed to be a Victorian when  i see the smug almost giggling faces of Thomas and Carla.
Its a shame that  TV stations think the audience gets off on the nastiness of the contestants, I for one would rather enjoy the cooking expertise and the end result.

Wether you win or lose, your character and personality will be long remembered.
