WA mother and daughter Lisa and Candice got their competitors' hackles up during Week 3 of My Kitchen Rules with some harsh criticism of their creations. Meanwhile, Bondi personal trainers Luke and Scott proved they can do healthy and delicious by scoring the highest points so far in this series.
NSW fitness freaks Luke, 29, and Scott, 36, took their hard working attitude into their instant restaurant, Made in Bondi, and came up trumps with a Prawn Salad Entree and Berry Macaroon Tart Dessert that scored them four tens and contributed to a whopping total of 90. Their only let down was an overcooked Spatchcock main. The previous episode, Tasmanian buddies Ali and Samuel scored 63 after a cheating drama saw them lose points for using curry paste from a jar.
At their instant restaurant Decadence in Hervey Bay, married Queenslanders Dan, 31, a painter and decorator, and advertising executive Steph, 30, reversed any good the NSW lads had done with a super fatty Cherry Cola Braised Pork main and Chocolate Brownie and Cookie Dough Ice Cream dessert. Both dishes disappointed, particularly after their near perfect Confit Salmon entree. Their total was 58, leaving WA ladies Lisa and Candice – who had awarded their competitors low scores - at the bottom of the leaderboard with 57.
The mother and daughter started off well with a gorgeous Seafood Casserole entree but messed up their Pork main and Pumpkin Pie dessert.
Next up, South Australian domestic goddesses Jenna and Joanna turn it on. Will cupcake artist Jenna, who shed tears of joy when talking about desserts because “I just love food”, hold it together to make a mouthwatering dessert? What matching frocks will Lisa and Candice – who have worn complimenting outfits to each instant restaurant - come in? Tune in to find out.

Females and/or those from an ethnic background are always the ones set up by the producers of these stupid reality shows to become the villains that everybody hates, while the white males are always portrayed as the good guys. It's a tired, contrived formula to try and get people watching and flinging hateful remarks around about the contestants, but it is also sexist and racist and needs to be outlawed. What astounds me most is that the majority of the viewers actually believe these women are really like this!
1 ReplySo this is cooking show? What foolish rules! Be consistent, so-called experts Manu & Pete! Why is bought curry paste "cheating", banana essence "chemical", while supermarket stock is acceptable? Why set people up for failure by allowing only 3 hours for preparation? (Just to cite one eg: it's impossible make & freeze ice-cream in that short period, in a home kitchen.) Are contestants given some guidance on balanced menu design, so as to avoid a fat & sugar laden presentation like Steph & Dan's? And get rid of the spiteful nastiness, and insist on scoring on the basis of the food presented, not on a "strategic" goal of getting rid of rivals. Furthermore, producers, put an end to fabricated drama around the slip-ups & mistakes. This is reality TV for the undiscerning, not a cooking show. Back to SBS & the ABC for real people & real food. (Think Food Safari & River Cottage.)
ReplyHow disappointing this show has become. It's more like watching Big Brother than a genuine cooking contest. The bitchiness is so contrived it's painful to watch. As for bringing on the "Gatecrashers", what a joke. Having worked in the media for over 30 years I know that these shows try and stir up controversy to lift ratings and I also know it often backfires. You will lose all those viewers who want to see a real contest and end up with the usual crop of bogans who are addicted to reality TV. Sorry, I'm heading back to Masterchef Professionals. At least it's all about the cooking.
1 Replywell it doesnt matter who gets put out the western australians or thev south aussies,,, they are all slags
ReplyWhat a joke this show is and has not changed from previous times Prearranged preorganised and would appear contestants have a script as no one can be that nasty. One nasty lot first group one nasty lot second group . How can show be fair dinkam to allow one pair to score others on dragging the instant restaurant down not scoring on what they ate. It shows a poor image of the judges to allow this to continue. Just think one judge only seems to enter kitchen when something has been stuffed up what a co instance
