Farmer Wants A Wife fans heartbroken over shock departure: 'The one that got away'

Farmer Wants A Wife fans were left heartbroken on Tuesday night when one of their favourite ladies left the show after finding the competition for Farmer Bert Harris' heart too much.

Fan favourite Lauren McNeil had been finding competing with the other women for Bert's attention quite difficult, but when Samantha Armytage revealed that the farmer's mothers had chosen two other women for them to meet, she reached her tipping point.

Lauren decided to leave, breaking the news to Bert while he was on his date with the two women his mum had chosen.

"I wanted to come chat to you, because I’m really struggling," she told a stunned Bert. "This whole process has been really hard for me. I’m not sure I can keep doing it, so I’ve packed my bags. I’m gonna go home."

"It's just too much for me," she added.

"[I'm] definitely torn, I think the world of Lauren," Bert told the cameras. "I had hoped that she would stick it out and we could explore where things potentially could go, but I'm definitely not going to put any added pressure on her to stay."

"Don't be a stranger," he whispered into her ear as they hugged goodbye.

Fans heartbroken over Lauren's decision

Fans took to social media to share their heartbreak over Lauren's tough decision, with one user writing, "Nooooooo go find her Farmer Bert!! Lauren is the best!!! She will be the one that got away!"

"Lauren was the loveliest of them all. So sorry to see her leave but admire her brave and mature decision," another added.

"She never got a chance with him," a third said. "Beautiful and so much class. He missed a good one there."

"What a shame 😢 she was my favourite," someone else said.

"I am so sad Lauren left," another said. "I thought she was the perfect match for Bert."

"What a shame. I felt like she was the one for him," yet another fan wrote.
