Hi everyone

Summer Bay is in a turmoil of wedding fever! News of Belle and Aden’s engagement has spread like a bush fire. Nicole seemed genuinely happy when Aden told her in the Diner, so I’m delighted that they have put any past tensions behind them. Rachel’s reaction was a little hesitant at first, I’m not sure why she wouldn’t be pleased, I think they are a perfect couple.

Belle told Irene that she is thinking about trying to find her father for the wedding. I don’t believe she has ever met him, so that could be tricky and to make it even harder, she wants to get married in two weeks! Colleen is already in a state about what to wear..haha.

It seems that even Gibbsy was touched by news, he somehow managed to get the engagement ring back from that dodgy character Clint, so Aden was able to propose to Belle properly. Then Rachel worked some magic with Tony and persuaded him to let Aden back on the footy team. So everything is working out very well, it’s good to see some smiling faces around the place.

I must admit I’m beginning to quite like Gibbsy, he’s a bit of a rough diamond. When he found out that Irene was thinking about cutting her losses and selling the business, he offered to run it for nothing in exchange for a percentage of the profits. Irene was amazed and relieved because now Aden can keep his job.

One person who wasn’t smiling was Angelo’s girlfriend May. Poor girl she came into the Diner in tears, saying that Angelo had broken up with her. I tried to comfort her, sometimes I feel more like a councillor, anyway she asked if I thought Angelo might change his mind when he realised what he had lost. I tried to be positive and told her it was possible, then I asked Charlie, who was standing at the register, what she thought. She mumbled something and looked very awkward. I found out later that Charlie and Angelo are back together! My goodness it’s hard to keep up sometimes, no wonder she looked embarrassed.

We have another new couple in the Bay, Martha and Hugo! I was pleased, but Colleen didn’t take the news very well. She is very old fashioned and doesn’t think it’s proper for Martha to date Jack’s cousin.

Rachel had a very tough week, I can’t believe she is still working so close to her delivery date. Tony said she had a terrible day on Tuesday, the hospital was very busy and she had to deal with an Indonesian man who had no ID and called himself Clint Eastwood (I tried not laugh), and a heavily pregnant woman who collapsed on the floor because they hadn’t been able to find her a hospital bed. Tragically the woman’s baby was still-born, poor Rach was inconsolable and it didn’t help when the husband yelled at her in an emotional outburst.

Angelo is still giving Hugo a hard time. He seems to think he is involved in the abalone racket and even went as far as suggesting that Hugo knew the Indonesian man, who has now done a runner from the hospital, it’s all very mysterious.

The students from Summer Bay High set off on their trek on Thursday in memory of Dan, but something happened to Jai and Annie. Alf organised an SES search after hearing that Miles had spent most of the night looking for them in the bush. Thankfully they found them, but Jai is very sick. He has blood poisoning after getting a gun shot wound to his arm. He and Xavier didn’t want to tell anyone that they had been messing around with Bruce Campbell’s gun and thought they could treat the injury themselves and now it is infected.

Mr Bartlett has just been talking to Trey’s mother in the Diner and was very surprised to hear that the students were not back yet, as he left instructions for them to come straight home on the bus. He seemed very concerned so I hope nothing else has gone wrong.

I will let you know next week.

Until then, stay safe.

Love Leah x
