One Direction

Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis all applied for the seventh season of The X Factor UK seperately, and failed. Judge Nicole Scherzinger then suggested they form a group, which they did. This new group - which they called One Direction - went on to come third in the competition. Despite not winnning, 1D went on to release the UK's fastest selling single of 2011 and a US number 1 record, inspiring Beatles-like pandemonium across the globe.
