'Roy – A Tribute To Roy Orbison' National Theatre Tour commenced in Melbourne – the same weekend as Dancing With The Stars Grand Final

Damien Leith began his national 'Roy – A Tribute To Roy Orbison' tour on Friday evening (July 8th) in Melbourne at The Palms Crown Casino to a sold out audience who supported the singer with two standing ovations. Due to popular demand, a second Melbourne show and further regional shows have recently been added to the tour which will see Damien perform 23 shows across Australia between July and November

The 'Roy – A Tribute To Roy Orbison' tour follows the release of Damien's 'Roy' album which continues to be a hit 12 weeks after its release, remaining at #19 on the ARIA Albums chart after peaking at #2. The chart topping new album has seen the lovable Irishman back at the top of the charts and riding a wave of popularity heading into the Seven Network's top rating and popular show Dancing With The Stars. Leith, together with Chef, Manu Feildel and cricketer's wife, Hayley Bracken are set to dance for the coveted dance trophy this evening at 6.30pm on the Seven Network.

As part of the 'Roy' national tour, Damien and his five piece band will perform classics such as 'Only The Lonely', 'Crying', 'Oh Pretty Woman', 'She's A Mystery to Me' and 'I Drove All Night' in a tribute to Roy Orbison that will see them performing on the road from July 8 through to November.

'Blue Bayou', the new single from the album, features The McClymonts and is accompanied by a love story themed video clip which also features Damien's Dancing With The Stars partner Melanie Hooper playing a role.

Supporting upcoming new Australian talent, Damien has invited singer-songwriter Jess Chalker to open the show. Since hitting the live circuit in 2009, Chalker has racked up some impressive notches. Amongst them, millions of hits on Youtube, a national tour with Lior and songwriting nods in the John Lennon Competition (runner up) and the Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition (top 10). With the guitar stylings of Eva Cassidy, the poetry of Joni Mitchell and the vocal tones of Sarah McLachlan, Chalker’s debut EP ‘Said the Raindrop to the Seed’, was released in 2010.
