Carmelo Pizzino was born in Perth and won his first dancing award at just five years of age.

Moving to Sydney at a young age, Carmelo then moved to London to further his dance career and represent Australia on the international circuit. He has since won many Australian and World titles, including the prestigious British Latin Championship, The International Latin Championship, the Australian Open, South Pacific, Australasian, Singapore's Lion City Championship and the Rumba in the Jungle Latin Championship in South Africa.

Carmelo was a resident teacher at Sydney Dance Company for three years. He studied theatre and performed in shows under the guidance of New York producer Missy Stephens. He has also performed internationally, with recent appearances on Holland's So You Think You Can Dance.

Carmelo made his Dancing With The Stars debut in Series Four, partnering Noeline Brown. He then returned in Series Five with grandmaster chess star Arianne Caoili, reaching the Grand Final.

For the past two years Carmelo has been performing in 'Burn the Floor's Floorplay', touring Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Japan, Europe, Canada and the US.

In February, Carmelo returned to Australia to work on the second series of So You Think You Can Dance.

Hello Carmelo. Well done on your achievements. You are an amazing dancer. So passionate. I loved watching you and Kylie dance every Sunday night. I was so upset you got knocked out. You two deserved to win but that's just how it goes. What will I watch on Sunday nights now?! I hope you are in the next series. I remember watching you on tv when I was much younger, you danced with Natalie, that was a long time ago! I wish I could have one dance with you someday! :)

I remember Carmelo in series 4, when he burst onto the screen dancing with Noelene Brown. Not only is he a terrific dancer but he also seems like a perfect gentleman.

Hi Carmelo, I adore watching you dance. You have such passion...and grace. I loved your dancing with Noeline Brown, and you and Arian should have won that series. You were absolutely robbed!! Never mind.... This is your series..with Kylie. She's gorgeous, and she's dancing up a storm with your help. Sunday nights can't arrive fast enough for me. Keep dancing and smiling.
