Matthew's no stranger to stiff competition having covered some of the world's elite sporting events during his career as a sports journalist and commentator for Channel Seven. He's also leading the battle in the news and public affairs arena as East Coast host of Channel Seven's top-rating Today Tonight.
Matthew began his journalism career at a local newspaper in Manly before moving to radio and joining Newcastle's NEWFM to present breakfast news. He moved to television in 1992 when he became weekend sports presenter for NBN News.
After a radio stint at Triple M, Matthew joined Network Ten as a sports reporter. He eventually became weekend host of the network's flagship program Sports Tonight. At his time at Ten, he covered sports including V8 Supercars, Formula One Motor Racing, Spring Racing Carnival and AFL.
Matthew joined Channel Seven in mid 2004 and in this time he has been involved in the network’s Athens 2004 Olympics coverage, Australian Open coverage and was host of Seven's (now-defunct) flagship sports program, Sportsworld. He also hosted the sport report on Sydney's edition of Seven News each weeknight.
On 13 August 2007, Matthew joined Melissa Doyle as host of Sunrise filling in for David Koch. Additionally he anchored weekend editions of Seven News in Sydney over the 2007/08 Christmas/New Year period.
On 30 September 2008, the Seven Network announced that Matthew White will be the new presenter of the East Coast edition of Today Tonight.

I love your dancing skills Matt. Just a question... I also have a huge lump under my jaw (exactly the same as yours), and I was wondering if you can actually describe to me what the doctors have told you, as my doctors do not know what is wrong with me. I have taken my lump out last year but it is growing again. Thanks alot
