Dancing With The Stars

Jess McNamee

Profession: Packed to the Rafters actress

Partner: Stefano Olivieri

Charity: Fred Hollows Foundation

Vote: Eliminated

This popular actress is known to millions of Australians as the unflappable Sammy from Channel Seven's top-rating drama, Packed to the Rafters. Growing up with musical theatre, Jess is a natural performer, having scored a role in Home and Away not long after leaving school. But is she a natural dancer?

Jess McNamee, 22, comes from the same Sydney suburb as her character Sammy in Packed to the Rafters, and grew up in a similarly large family.

She caught the acting bug early thanks to her older sisters Bec and Penny. Together they grew up doing musical theatre. It was while majoring in drama during her final year of school that Jess decided acting was for her.

Upon finishing school she scored a role in the TV drama Secretary alongside Vince Colosimo and Pia Miranda. While the show was short-lived, she went on to appear on Home and Away twice last year as Lisa Duffy. She scored the role of Sammy whilst still on Home and Away.

Like her sister Penny, who's currently appearing in the Broadway musical hit Wicked in Melbourne, Jess is also a talented singer and dancer. She has a keen interest in history and philosophy, and was majoring in both at Sydney University before she deferred her studies to pursue acting.

Jess is also an avid fitness fanatic. She's into yoga, running and has been wakeboarding for the last six years. When she's not working, she also spends time at Wattle Studio, a facility for intellectually handicapped young people established by her aunty Clare.

During her recent production break, Jess completed work on the horror film The Loved Ones in Melbourne and travelled throughout South America.

I think the judges scores are a fair reflection of what they see on the dance floor. They are pro's and would not risk there credibility to keep the producers happy (I hope!!) As for the voting public........... well what can be said. If you didn't vote for Jessica, you helped her get eliminated. For the best "dancer" to win (not most popular), the phone voting has to be eliminated. That won't happen. That is what makes the show money.

Hi Jess, the show has become a bit of a farce, you were the best dancer on the show. It makes us wonder why the program waste it time with judges, but it has been obvious from the start where the preference's lay. Once again you danced beautifully. I believe the phone in poll should be made public, and get rid of the judges.

I AM SO DISGUSTED THAT JESS LEFT THAT I SWORE I WASNT GOING TO WATCH ANYMORE,HOWEVER I DID, AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, ARE PEOPLE SO STUPID THEY ARE VOTING FOR GERARD BECAUSE HE IS BLIND.IT IS GREAT HE IS DANCING BUT IT IS A COMPETITION AND THE OTHER STARS ARE PUTTING SO MUCH WORK INTO IT,IF I WERE THEM I WOULD LEAVE THE SHOW,IT IS A WASTE OF THEIR TIME AND HARD WORK.GERARDS PARTNER IS AMAZING BUT HE CANNOT DANCE.

What a terrible loss for the show! You guys were my favourite dancers. You deserved a 10 at least twice. The judges scoring this season is not great. You were fantastic and wonderful to watch congratulations and well done! Ps love you on Rafters

I'm so sorry you have left the show. It was not because you didn't dance beautifully, you did - it was simply because Gerrard is getting a sympathy vote for his blindness. If he was honest with himself he would have stepped up and decided he was spoiling the competition for DANCING and left. You should still be there as you and Stefano didn't deserve to be knocked off because of sympathy votes. The show is becoming a farce, and if it continues this week to stay like this ...

I feel someone is getting a sympathy vote, which is a shame......surely they dont want that !! I wont be watching again.....imagine this happening in any other competition.

I second what chloewordsworth said, I will no longer be watching this ridiculous show! You were brilliant and a stand out every single week and I always looked forward to seeing you dance each week. You were definitely the best dancer and I was sure you would be in the finale and would win!! I always voted for you every week. I don't know what's wrong with the voters this year, it seems whoever is top of the leader board is eliminated!! It's pathetic!! Devastated!!

Will not be watching this riduculous show anymore, the show above everything else should be about talent not popularity, Gerard and Jessica should obviously havebeen eliminated tonight, which just goes to show what a waste of time this show is!!!
