AFI-nominated actor Damien Richardson earned the nod for his role on The Secret Life Of Us, and has also appeared in Australian television favourites Blue Heelers and Stingers. He has continued to impress in his role as DSC Matt Ryan in City Homicide.

“Since joining Homicide, Matt’s conviction for the pursuit of justice has intensified. He hopes to be able to continue to evolve in his effectiveness as an investigative officer,” says Damien.

Damien starred in Torn, a movie with Australian actor Costas Mandylor (Picket Fences), which was shot in 21 days, giving him a great grounding for the tight deadlines associated with TV. He also appeared in the 2007 thriller, Noise, in The Jammed and starred alongside Guy Pearce and Rachel Griffiths in The Hard Word.

On the stage, Damien is as adept in front of the audience as he is behind-the-scenes. He co-wrote “The Belly Of The Whale”, which won Best New Drama at the Melbourne Fringe Festival (1999) and is currently working on a script for a new feature film, Smashed.

Damien resides in Melbourne with his writer wife, Nicole, and three children, Maisie, Albert and Lottie.
