Bernard Curry can’t wait to introduce Australia to its very own Beauties and Geeks.

“We’ve found the best of both worlds in our beauties and geeks,” he says.

“To me a geek is someone with a singular focus; someone who focuses on one thing forsaking all others. While a beauty has self awareness, vanity and ego. They are aware of who they are and how people see them and dress and look accordingly.”

While Bernard thinks everyone has a little bit of beauty and geek in them, he’s enjoying watching the transformation as the show’s contestants are put through their paces.

“People will love this show because of its warm-hearted centre,” says Bernard. “The challenges are so wide and varied and they will test the contestants on the skills they may lack but of course they’re so much fun as well.”

With challenges varying from a musical rap before a live audience to primary school teaching, the beauties and geeks will definitely be evolving throughout the show as they work together to keep themselves safe from elimination.

While Bernard confesses to a love of quantum physics, he certainly enjoys a more rounded set of social skills than our hapless geeks.

Coming from a close-knit successful entertainment family with three brothers and one sister, he is no stranger to the small screen with his current role on Home and Away and appearances in Packed to the Rafters, Satisfaction, Blue Heelers, The King, Out of the Blue, MDA, Crash burn, Stingers, RAW FM, Neighbours and Halifax FP.

Bernard has also starred in feature films Puppy, The Dish and Junction Boys and various theatre productions including The Rocky Horror Show. Bernard draws from a wide range of creative talents, counting 14 years as a member of the band Jonny Wonderpants and even held the title of Victorian Air Guitar champion of 2002.

Bernard has had his share of adventures during his career including running away to join the circus after meeting his partner. He travelled and worked with the Spiegeltent in October 2005 and 2006 for various festivals in Australia and the UK.

Bernard loves travelling and diving – every year he heads to a beach house with family and friends to go diving, fishing and play sports. He has walked the Kokoda trail for charity and in his spare time likes to play tennis, cricket and write and produce music at his home studio. He also loves the water and counts surfing, snowboarding, and snorkelling amongst his passions.
